WELSH OPEN BANK CHAMPIONSHIP 2004

Sunday 19th Sept Elan Valley

Forty four anglers competed in this match which had been postponed from July because birds nest in the vicinity of the lakes during that month.
The fishing conditions on the day were good and the 44 who fished caught 129 fish weighing 76lbs 13ozs. The fishing proved to be interesting and varied. Phil Price a local angler from Rhayader took 13 fish to his own rod and was the top rod.
Ray Morgan and Alan Banwell both from Osprey teams took second and third spot with nine and ten fish respectively. The team of three was won by Osprey B team comprising of Ray Morgan, Alan Banwell and Dennis Baynam.
It was good to see a few young anglers in attendance and Will Jones and Aled Joned from Rhayader took first and second places respectively with Gavin Perry from TTA taking third spot.
The match was sponsored by Cliff Harvey Angling Supplies and the local angling club. The promoters were satisfied with the entries and are thinking in terms of a September date for next year.
