Congratulations go to Scotland – the home nation – on their success in winning the Commonwealth Championship. They led more or less from the start and were worthy winners. In second place was England followed by Australia (Gold).

Our teams didn’t fare too well on this occasion.
The Red Kite Team captained by Trevor Jones, Brenig was in 9th position and
The Red Dragon Team captained by Eric Davies, Llandysul was in 11th position.
The top Welsh angler was David Hoppe, Llandegfedd who was 13th overall having caught 36 fish.
The Champion Commonwealth angler was Phil Dixon from England with an amazing total placings of 5 (having come in first position in the 5 sessions) giving him a total points score of 38220 – a magnificent performance and a wonderful achievement for him.

Wales has been invited to host the Commonwealth Championship in 2010 – ie next year.
