Warmest congratulations to the Spring Team – ably led by team Captain Marco Orsi of the Osprey Club – on winning the GOLD MEDAL at the UK Fly-fishing Championship on Loch of Harray, Orkney last Friday, 10th June
Loch Harray was a dream of a venue and the Welsh team really put their heart and soul into discovering its deep, hidden secrets. After an initial period of trial and error, the team came up with a formula that they all seemed happy with – the technique being to hit out a long cast and to retrieve quite quickly. Although this was a demanding form of fishing, they kept to the game plan and came in victorious. When they stepped out of the boats after eight hours of non-stop fishing they were completely shattered! But those weary limbs were soon forgotten when the results were announced!
Wales: 126 fish weighing 97 lbs4.5ozs
Scotland: 113 fish weighing 87lbs .25ozs
Ireland: 81 fish weighing 62lbs 0.0ozs
England: 63 fish weighing 46lbs 6.50zs

Congratulations also to Aled Dixon on winning the much coveted Brown Bowl. The match was fished to 6 fish keep and then C&R. and Aled captured 18 fish – what a feat! In close second was team mate Anthony Cartwright who captured 17 fish!
WSTAA can be rightly proud of the effort put in by the team – it was fantastic performance with every team member contributing to the result.
